Strong, attractive, and compatible: Expect only the best. Only few materials are like the diamond, the symbol of both beauty and strength. Yet we search for materials for dental restorations that must be on the one hand, beautiful, on the other, strong. Also, the material must be biocompatible. Zirconium oxide is a high-tech material that has already proven itself in many extreme situations: in the space shuttle’s heat shield, the brake discs of sport cars, and the balls of artificial hip joints. Cercon ® smart ceramics makes the use of this high-tech ceramic in dentistry a reality, thus opening a new perspective on dental restorations. With Cercon ®, it is possible to make all-porcelain crowns and multiunit bridges for anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth. Other applications in dentistry are in their test phase and we already expect successful test results.
