We have a long history of education at Fisodent. Not only the education that all our technicians go through to graduate but the ongoing education we regularly part take in to stay on the cutting edge. The rapidly changing nature of our industry can some times leave a gap between hard earned knowledge from textbooks and the work done with tools at the bench. As such Fisodent regularly excepts students from some of the worlds top dental schools to help them gain some practical technical knowledge that will place them among the most industry ready graduate students. Our latest student Fee has been with us for two weeks and we thought we would ask her to give you an update on her experiences.
As I was studying for my A- levels just half a year ago I’d never thought I would end up in this dental lab in Northbridge, Sydney, getting a glimpse into the world of teeth.
Being surrounded by microscopes, materials such as wax, plaster or gold, hearing the sounds of dental drills and seeing these 7 dental technicians working on their crowns and bridges is getting me really excited to start studying dentistry next April.
What I’ve learned so far is that patience, a calm hand and an eye for details are qualities highly needed in this profession as it’s often a long process to make a crown and everything has to fit perfectly right from the beginning.
I really liked the answer one of the technicians gave me about why he likes his job: “We make people smile again” and honestly this really is what this world of teeth is all about.
